High power, high repetition rate diode-pumped femtosecond Yb:KGW oscillator

This paper reports on an efficient high power single end-pumped femtosecond Yb:KGd(WO4)2 (Yb:KGW) oscillator. By optimization of cavity design and special selection of mode size on semiconductor saturable absorber mirror (SESAM), output average power of 5.06 W and pulse duration of 410 fs was achieved with a pump power of 14.56 W, corresponding to a slope efficiency of 48.0% and an opticalto-optical efficiency of 34.8%. The pulse repetition rate was 53.6 MHz and the pulse energy was up to 94.4 nJ. This is what we believe the highest average output power as well as opticalto-optical efficiency for single end-pumped bulk Yb:KGW femtosecond oscillators recently. O u tp u t p o w e r, W
